Exercise 3

Please read this instruction carefully, as this is a multi-part exercise requiring the creation of more than 1 member in &SYSUID.JCL.CNTL and they must be run in the correct sequence.

Stage 1 - Building a GDG Base Entry

Create a member called BUILDGDG in library &SYSUID.JCL.CNTL. The details below offer guidance on the number and type of statements required, plus an indication of some of the parameters, which may be needed.

JOB statement

• Job name to be based on the TSO userid in use
• Memory requirement is for 4096K.
• Job to run in a class 'A' initiator.
• You are to be notified when the job ends.

EXEC statement

• The program to be executed is IDCAMS.

DD statements

• SYSPRINT is a spooled print file.
• SYSIN should refer to member GDGBASE in &SYSUID.JCL.CNTL.

Stage 2 - Adding the first generation to the GDG

Create a member called EX5 in library &SYSUID.JCL.CNTL. The details below offer guidance on the number and type of statements required, plus an indication of some of the parameters, which may be needed.

JOB statement

• Job name to be based on the TSO userid in use
• Memory requirement is for 4096K.
• Job to run in a class 'A' initiator.
• You are to be notified when the job ends.

EXEC statement

• The program to be executed is IEBDG.

DD statements

• SYSPRINT is a spooled print file.
• SYSUT2 creates the new GDG, whose name is the same as the base built in Stage 1, but with +1 appended. DISP, UNIT, SPACE and DCB information will also be required. The model DSCB name to be used in the DCB operand is SYS1.MODLDSCB.
• SYSIN should refer to member KSDSDATA in &SYSUID.JCL.CNTL.

Stage 3 - List the Catalogue Entry

In TSO, go to the command panel, Option 6, and on the command line type:

LISTC ENT(MASTER) ALL

and press enter.
